Featured Cruise Line: MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises has emerged as a fast-rising star in the European-style premium cruise market. Backed by the world's second largest cargo shipper, Mediterranean Shipping Company is a well capitalized shipping company that's determined to enter the Cruise industry in grand style. The company started a $3 billion expansion program in 2003, with the introduction of the new MSC Lirica in 2003. MSC Cruises added the MSC Armonia (built in 2001) to its fleet in spring of 2004 and the new MSC Opera debuted in June 2004. The line purchased the MSC Sinfonia (built in 2002) in July 2004 (the ship began cruising in March 2005) and has built two new 2,600-passenger ships MSC Musica(2006) and MSC Orchestra (2007). MSC's most recent mega ships MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia are the largest built by a European ship owner and are in excess of 137,000 gross tons and have more than 1600 statero0ms. Today, MSC Cruises is the industry's fastest growing cruise line and they clearly determined to make a name for themselves. more

Featured Ship: Allure of the Seas

Allure of the Seas is the second ship in the Oasis class of ships and is owned by Royal Caribbean International. Allure's maiden voyage was November 2010, and it was built in STX Europe shipyard in Turku, Finland. At 220,000 gross tons, this ship hosts 5400 guests and 2165 crew. This is one of the first ships to have interior stateooms with balconies facing interior open spaces. The ship features a zip-line, a casino,a mini-golf course, multiple night clubs, several bars and lounges, a karaoke club, comedy club, four swimming pools, volleyball and basketball courts, theme parks and nurseries for children. Onboard activities are organized into seven themed areas called neighborhoods. Neighborhoods include Central Park, Pool & Sports Zone, Spa & Fitness Center, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Youth Zone and Entertainment Place. The sister ship to Allure of the Seas is Oasis of the Seas. Both ships sail from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean. more

From the tuxedoed penguins and cresting whales of the Straits of Magellan to the intriguing colonial history and the glitter of nightlife in Rio and Buenos Aires, South America is a destination of opposites, and one of the hottest destinations in the world. There are two types of South America Cruises, Amazon River Cruises are 10 - 14 night cruises where a cruise ship will begin or end it's itinerary in Manaus, Brazil, near the end of the Amazon River and deep in the heart of the jungles of South America. Amazon River Cruises sail seasonally in January, February, or March. The 2nd type is a South America Explorer Cruise. These are all the other South America Cruises including routes around Cape Horn and the Strait of Magellan or itineraries that include Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. These cruises are often 12 nights or longer sailing between December and March. more
